This is a rooted phone that has been upgraded to Android 11 LineageOS ROM, not the Android 5 or 6 these phones came with. Rooted means you have full control of the operating system, to modify or install another operating system altogether. Android 11 means you can install modern apps on a phone you are used to. It also has all the manufacturer bloatware removed to improve performance.
This is a Verizon phone and unlocked for other US carriers. Service will work if you insert an already activated SIM card. DO NOT take it to Verizon to activate, because they will say this phone is not compatible with their 4G network to sell you another phone.
Phone has been freed from tracking Google Apps and comes with an alternative F-Droid app store featuring hundreds of FREE and open source apps for pretty much anything you might need.
Many people continue to use their S5's because it is the last S-series Galaxy that came with a removable battery. And they still work fine. The only problem was that you couldn't install a lot of apps because the Android version was so old. Which is what was fixed in this phone.
It is in a good cosmetic condition with light signs of use.
